Street Trees & Greenspaces

The mission of the Cincinnati Board of Park Commissioners is “to conserve, manage, sustain, and enhance parks’ natural and cultural resources and public green space for the enjoyment, enlightenment, and enrichment of the Cincinnati community.” Under the Park Board’s Division of Operations, three programs comprise the Natural Resource Management Section – Urban Forestry, Greenspace, and Land Management.

The Urban Forestry Program is responsible for the planting, removing, and care of publicly maintained trees in the City’s right-of-way.

The Greenspace Program beautifies and maintains public green spaces on highways, parkways, community gateways, traffic islands, Downtown Cincinnati, community business districts and other public areas.

The Land Management Program keeps parks healthy and naturally beautiful in more than 5,000 acres of land for the benefit of Cincinnati residents. It’s our goal to manage plant and wildlife habitat within our parks to support the widest diversity of native plants and animals possible. See the following full story for Land Management Programs.
